Progressive Industries HW50C Hardwired EMS Surge & Electrical Protection- 50 Amps

First things first... You'll need to get into the basement area and remove the carpeted panels. The one on the left side is eay enough. The longer/larger panel that foes across will require you to disconnect the vacuum hose (the gray hose in the bottom of the following picture and disconnect the external switch wires that connect to the vacuum activation switch in the coach.

That black box on the "floor" in the above picture is the transfer switch - read this label. If you haven't already, before you go any further you'll need to go to your favorite blue/orange box store and get yourself a length of 6/3 cable (the 6 indicates it's #6 gauge wire, the 3 indicates 3 insulated conductors, plus ground). You'll need to strip back about 3" of the outer insulation, then for each conductor wire, expose about 1/2" of copper.

After taking the lid off the transfer switch this is what’s underneath. Of course - make sure you’re disconnected from shore power and your generator isn’t running BEFORE you do this. I wired in my 6/3 cable to the output of the transfer switch. The wires at the top of this pic is the OUTPUT from the transfer switch. I took this and wired it as the INPUT of my HW50C so that the coach is protected regardless of my power source - generator or shore-power.

This is the inside of the HW50C. I wrote the RWB letters in sharpie so that I didn’t make any mistakes.

All done. Secured and covers re-installed.

It's like I was never there.
